Super Bowl 2023: best recipes and themed dishes as chefs face the Eagles for the NFL championship

The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are set to kick off Super Bowl LVII this weekend, but they’re far from the only ones needing to prepare for the big game. Those of us watching at home also have a lot to prepare for. What will we wear for the match, and the most important question, what will we eat?

The Super Bowls are about the game, of course, but they’re also an important day to serve up some of the best game day foods and snacks. If you don’t know what to serve on Sunday, don’t worry, I’m here for you. I love a theme, so to start, here are some football-themed foods that look the part.

Football themed food

If you want something easy yet cute and a fan favorite, try chocolate covered strawberries with a football twist. All you have to do is melt some chocolate like you would normal chocolate covered strawberries and grab some white chocolate or icing to make the “laces” on the soccer ball.

This is what they look like:

Keeping with the chocolate theme, you can also make a similar snack with chocolate and pretzels. Melt the chocolate, dip the pretzel in the chocolate, and scoop out white chocolate or frosting to make the laces. You can also add nuggets of different colors depending on the team you support.

To give your brownies a little football makeover, bake brownies (and there’s no shame in the boxed brownie game) and add white icing or white chocolate to make the laces. You can also add laces to the cupcakes to make them more NFL themed.

Location-based food

With the Eagles and Chiefs in the Super Bowl, it’s only fitting to have some classic Philly and Kansas City snacks to add to the mix.

Philadelphia’s choice is obvious; you have to think Philly Cheese Steak when you think of the city. There are tons of recipes out there and while it’s hard to achieve the status of a recipe as good as the one you’ll find on the streets of Philadelphia, we can definitely give it a try.
